Before I sold Real Estate I was a contractor. I painted, framed, put on roofs you name it. I came into Real Estate a little rough around the edges.

The 1st company I worked at was Coldwell banker. Johnda Bradley was working as the office manager then and she hired me. It was as tough for me as for any new Realtor but quiting was never an option. In the back of my mind quiting meant going back to putting roofs on in Houston Texas in the middle of the summer. That was not the job I wanted to go back to.

A year after joining I decided to make my move to RE/MAX. I was sad about going to the owner Nancy and telling her I would be moving. I had always felt that she had been very supportive of me. Later that day as I was packing and feeling bad I was told by someone else in the office not to feel "too" bad. Nancy apparently had not been real excited when she had 1st found out that I had been hired. I didn't fit "the office image"

Weather this is true or not I will never know. It really doesn't matter because she was supportive. The fact was back then a lot of my friends questioned weather Real Estate was really what I wanted to do. Most of them did not think that I would last out the year. I wasn't very polished or swanky. I was pretty rough around the edges. A year later when I moved to RE/MAX again I was warned by a lot of friends and other Realtors that RE/MAX was not for everyone (meaning me LOL)

It's been 13 years. I am now a team of 5. I work hard. I'm a straight shooter and tell it like it is. If selling or buying is the right thing for you to do, I tell you. If I don't think that is is. I tell you. I'm involved in the community and I love my job. I have polished up a bit.

My Team is amazing. Tina my office manager is on top of all of us. She came from a back ground of a Real Estate office manager prior to being with us. She  manages to juggle phone calls and tasks as they come into the office as if it was a breeze. The 3 other licensed agents on my team are amazing. They are professional and client service driven. Two of them have been licensed longer than I have been. I am very proud of my team and together we have alot of Real Estate experience and have a great time working together. We're The Bly Team!

Don't put limitations on yourself. If it's something you want. You can have it. If you can't move mountains, you can climb them!

Great words of wisdom for any of us.  Sounds like you made the right move and that you are very happy now.  It seems that if you can get yourself into the right circles, you'll do just fine.  I LOVE the video included.  :)

Hi Deborah - Great post about not accepting limitations imposed by others. And what a very funny video! I loved it!

I also have to say that your team photo could be used as a great testimonial for a hair salon - everyone looks fabulous!
